Written by AC3 audio pass-through to TV with Chromecast
I have a lot of films in mkv format and use AC3, I’d like to stream those films to my TV via my first generation Chromecast. However, it is well know that AC3 is not natively supported by Chromecast, any solution to pass-through AC3 audio to TV via Chromecast.
Apparently Google has listened to the users and have added support for AC3 passthrough on Chromecast, however, people still get no sound when playing MKVs with AC3 audio codec on Chromecast. To fix this issue, the most effective solution is transcoding AC3 to Chromecast supported AAC audio codec.
Transcode AC3 to Chromecast AAC for TV streaming

Step 1: Add MKV files with AC3 audio codec to the program.
Run the program on your computer click “File” to load MKV video source with AC3 audio codec.
Step 2: Choose output video file format.
Click the “Format” bar, from its drop-down list, choose one of Chromecast supported video format such as avi, wmv, mp4, mkv, mpeg, mov, vob, divx, xvid, 3gp, mkv, flv, webm, etc to output.
Step 3: Adjust output audio codec.
Click “Settings” to open “Profile” settings window, in “Audio” section, click “Codec” drop-down list, select Chromecast playable AAC codec to output.
Step 4: Carry out the conversion.
Go back to the main UI and click “Convert”button to start AC3 to Chromecast playable AAC audio codec conversion process.
When the conversion is completed, click “Open Output Folder” on the main interface to pop out the folder with your converted files, set up Chromecast for streaming AC3 to TV.
